Delhi: Life skills education is found to be an effective psychosocial intervention strategy for promoting positive social, and mental health of children. It plays an important role in all aspects such as developing self-confidence and emotional intelligence, as well as enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
The ENLIGHT project in Delhi organized ‘Life Skills Education’ training with the objective to improve self-awareness and promote critical thinking among children. The resource person used diverse methods including storytelling, games to train 200 odd children from across 12 Child Learning Centres.
Nutrition awareness program organized for adolescent girls in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Dietary inadequacy and signs of nutritional disorders are a common sight among girls, especially adolescents. Every adolescent girl requires approximately 2,200 calories for better physical and mental growth. The ENLIGHT project in Bengaluru organized a nutrition awareness programme for girls from Muslim communities with the support of the Department of Women and Child Development in Lakshmi Devi Nagar. The awareness programme focused on educating mothers, adolescent girls and pregnant women on the importance of a balanced diet.
